Food Etiquette: Eating Lobster.

Eating lobster is a hands-on process.

  1. Start by breaking off the legs. Hold it by the back and gently peel off the legs. Don’t throw them away as there are nice bits of meat in it.
  2. Tear off the claws at the first joint with a gentle twisting motion.
  3. Use a nutcracker to break off the tip of the claws.
  4. Push the meat with the forefinger through the largest hole.
  5. Break off the inedible parts and put aside. That would be the antennas and beak.
  6. Grab the tail portion with one hand and the back with the other. Twist the two apart.
  7. Peel off the tip of the tail and remove the digestive track before eating the meat.
  8. The “roe” (unfertilized eggs) can be eaten, but this is normally done by a brave few.
