Gourmet food restaurants are a class of restaurant that serve a certain type of cuisine. (Cuisine refers to a meal or ingredients of high quality or special presentation). It is food that are out of the ordinary and are prepared with rare ingredients from around the world. The presentation of the food is eye-appealing and done with great care and dedication.

The gourmet food industry evolved out of the division between gourmet tastes and the populist aversion to, so called, ”fancy food.” There have been a tremendous growth in restaurants that serve Gourmet food. This can be attributed to a few factors:

  • Growing health and nutrition concerns about “fast food.”
  • The growth in televised Food Channels world-wide.
