Wine And Dine: Corkage fee
A restaurant is entitled to charge a fee when clients bring their own bottle of table wine with when coming to dine. It is always a good idea to confirm with the manager of the restaurant what the conditions of the corkage fee is by phoning in advance.
The bottle of wine taken to the restaurant should be very special and not on the restaurant’s wine list. Wine etiquette suggests that it is only polite to offer the waiter or sommelier a taste of the wine once it is opened.
